The market for Polish and other foreign labour is changing rapidly at the moment.
All except one change was covered in the recent Acorn Recruitment newsletter but another has emerged, which in retrospect was predictable, but I had failed to anticipate it.
The challenge for Polish Recruitment agencies has moved from finding jobs for
Polish workers, to finding Polish staff to fill the vacancies available .
As you may have read, recruiting Poles out of Poland is increasingly difficult but a “new” source has emerged and that is Poles already in England. The main reasons that UK based Polish workers are looking for work in the UK are :-
1. Looking for better working conditions
2. Looking for longer term employment
3. Are victims of recession, plant closures etc
4. Have medium term commitments to the UK EG housing/education etc

I believe UK PLC has become very complacent in the use of the temporary labour market, dipping in and out at will and “abusing” the pool of labour that is available. This is changing. Many Poles are returning home when they lose their existing jobs and cannot secure an alternative rapidly. Temporary agencies are struggling to supply the demand and it will get worse.
